In 2015, Nicole convocated from the First Nations University with her BISW and became a Registered Social Worker.
Nicole has held various positions in her time as a social worker, including Program Support Worker and Clinical Supervisor at White Buffalo Youth Inhalant Treatment Center, where she also helped create and facilitate a Crisis Response Team. She also worked for the Government of Saskatchewan - CLSD where she held positions as a Community Services Worker and Coordinator for Northern Saskatchewan.

Regan is the Co-owner and Co-founder of Evergreen Oasis Counselling & Consulting. Regan is married to Jerad and they have two young children who keep them very busy. Regan and Jerad also have an Electrical business called Buck Contracting.
Regan holds a Bachelor of Education with a major in mathematics and minor in Business Education. She taught for over ten years within the Sask Rivers School Division, in a variety of elementary and high schools between Prince Albert and Shellbrook, SK. She taught a wide range of areas including Kindergarten, K - 10 mathematics, and Home Economics. She thoroughly enjoyed bringing her love of mathematics to students of all ages and had a passion to share how important math is in everyday life.
Regan is the CFO of Evergreen Oasis Counselling & Consulting and runs the business end of Evergreen Oasis.
Through her teaching experience, Regan saw a desperate need for mental health supports for a large portion of students. Anything from body image, anxiety, assistance through divorce or family struggles, etc, the struggles within the youth population seemed to be increasing. The Covid -19 Pandemic also raised new concerns that youth and adults were facing. Regan and Nicole began discussing the barriers that communities in Northern SK face, and together decided they would put their concerns into action, and from here Evergreen Oasis was born.

My name is Abigail Anderson, and I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2011 from the University of Lethbridge, with a major in Addiction Counselling and a minor in Mental Health Counselling. I have extensive experience working with Indigenous communities with a focus on culture-based healing practices. I have also worked with many vulnerable populations, with a particular focus around children and youth, along
with those impacted by low housing or those who are unsheltered. My experience includes working with family separation and apprehension, and system navigation. I am also currently working on becoming a facilitator for mental health wellbeing within the agricultural sector to help support rural farmers and farming families who are experiencing stress and anxiety.
I have considerable knowledge when it comes to understanding addictions and problem gambling behaviors. I am well versed in trauma, PTSD, self-harming behaviors, and grief and crisis management. My experience and knowledge of mental health issues and disorders is comprehensive. I often provide therapy in the forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy with a particular focus on
solution and strength-based approaches.
I continue to strive to enhance my knowledge and skill set to best assist in the therapeutic setting. I believe that individuals do their best when they feel heard, understood and respected. My main main goal is to always support an individual in the best possible way, to create outcomes that are valuable and meaningful to that person. My name is Crystal Barden and I am a Mental Health Therapist with Evergreen Oasis Counselling and Consulting in Shellbrook, SK. I am honored to say that I was born and raised in Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Metis. My husband and I have a large, blended family which includes our 7 children and their significant others. We also welcomed our first grandbaby into the world in November, 2023. We love all things outdoors, which means we can be found hunting, fishing, quadding, sledding, kayaking, camping and more.
I navigated my childhood with undiagnosed ADHD, which caused difficulties with my learning and led to me struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety. At the age of 16, I became a teen mom which encouraged me to put in the effort required to succeed and obtain my high school diploma. While my own family did not come without its struggles, I was extremely fortunate to have had my parents support in overcoming the obstacles I faced. I recognize that not everyone has this equal opportunity,
and this realization fueled my desire to work in the Human Services field.
I graduated from Carlton Comprehensive High School and began post-secondary studies that same fall. During my first year of university, I determined the route I would take and applied to the U of R to pursue a degree in Social Work. During my first practicum, I gained experience working at Family Futures in Prince Albert. This placement led to a 1-year term position that allowed me to continue working with parents of young children, providing education, support, advocacy, and referrals. Following the completion of this term position, my husband and I moved our family to Meadow Lake. I completed my major practicum in the community of Meadow Lake with Child and Family Services, obtaining my BSW degree in the Spring of 2006. I accepted a position and continued to work with Child and Family Services for a period of 4 years.
From here, I accepted a position as a Home Visitation Supervisor with KidsFirst in Meadow Lake.
In the spring of 2020, my husband and I made the decision to move back to the RM of Shellbrook, allowing us to be close to our adult children. I continued working with KidsFirst in a half-time position,as well I also worked part-time for a period of 6 months as a Sexual Assault Counselor at Prince Albert’s Sexual Assault Center.
I am now working at Evergreen Oasis, where I support students in two separate schools in the communities of Ahtahkakoop and Shell Lake. I also provide support to individuals via virtual or in-person sessions at our Shellbrook office. I utilize but am not limited to a person-centered approach, trauma informed care, cognitive behavioral theory, strength-based theory, solution focused theory and a harm reduction model. I understand that
each person and situation is unique and strive to tailor support to meet these individualized needs.
I can be contacted at 306.714.7681 or crystal.barden@evergreenoasis.ca
My name is Kelsey Gerow, I am honored to have been born and raised in Treaty 6 Territory, the Homeland of the Métis people. I am a mental health therapist with Evergreen Oasis Counselling & Consulting Inc. in Shellbrook. As a therapist, I bring a deep commitment to advocacy and a holistic,
client-centered approach to my practice.
Growing up with undiagnosed anxiety and ADHD, I faced many challenges that lacked proper support and resources. These personal experiences ignited my passion for mental health advocacy and inspired me to pursue a Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from the First Nations University of Canada, which I completed in 2017. My education provided me with a strong foundation in culturally informed and trauma-sensitive practices, shaping the way I approach therapy today.
My career began with a focus on child protection and harm reduction in northern Saskatchewan (Prince Albert, La Loche, Ile-a-la-crosse, Patunak, Beauval and Buffalo Narrows), where I served in various roles,
including Child Protection Worker and Assistant Supervisor. During this time, I developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by underserved communities and the importance of building meaningful relationships to effectively support them. My work in Saskatoon further refined my skills, particularly in managing complex cases involving teens with issues such as addiction, mental health struggles, and criminal justice involvement.
Now, in my current practice, I specialize in supporting individuals aged 13 and older who face a range of challenges, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, addictions, gang affiliation, and intellectual disabilities.
I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including trauma-informed care, strength-based theory, cognitive behavioral therapy and harm reduction models. My goal is to ensure that each client feels heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment plan, tailoring my approach to meet their
unique needs and circumstances.
I currently practice at Chief John Keenatch High School on Big River First Nation during the school year, where I provide support to students and their families. Additionally, I offer counseling services in our Shellbrook office, extending my reach to adults and their families. As a Registered Social Worker with both the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers and the Canadian Association of Social Workers, I am committed to providing the highest standard of care.
I look forward to hopefully supporting you soon! I can be contacted at 306.714.7689 or kelsey.gerow@evergreenoasis.ca
